How do I fix my treadmills e1 error?

So I have set my new years resolution to lose weight. Dug out the treadmill to get started but I'm getting an e1 error a few seconds after I start it. Anyway to fix this without paying out huge cash sums? Its a vfit treadmill which I bought from argos three years ago for �300
