Is there anything wrong with having a cake and punch and snack reception after an afternoon wedding?

We are having and early afternoon wedding (from 1:30 till 2:30ish will be the wedding time) and then we were thinking just a simple reception with snacks, cake, and non-alcoholic drinks (maybe an icecream bar) from 3 to 5 afterwards. I'm trying to sell him on this idea but he's never heard of it being done before. I think it's a great way to stay in our budget and still have a beautiful time where our family and friends can celebrate with us. What do you think?
